First discovered by Europeans in 1492, Cuba was described by Christopher Columbus as “the most beautiful land human eyes have ever seen”. Though much has changed in Cuba over the last five centuries (and even the last five months), that statement still rings true.

During the first seven years, seven villages were founded: Baracoa, Bayamo, Trinidad, Sancti Spiritus, Santiago de Cuba, Puerto Principe and, what is now the capital city, Havana. All these towns hold a piece of Cuba’s history and showcase the eclectic fusion of nations that have bound to form the country’s national identity. Its African, Spanish and colonial heritage manifest in every corner; in the intricate architecture, famed music scene and distinct flavour of its cuisine.

The classic 1950’s American cars have become as much a part of Cuban identity as the country’s music, picturesque beaches and UNESCO World heritage sites that people travel across the world to see. Its natural beaches - on the mainland and surrounding the islets - number over 300 and boast some of the most beautiful vistas in the Caribbean

The seductive combination of culture, nature, beaches, history and hospitality, make Cuba an irresistible destination for tourists from all over the world. With President Obama, Karl Lagerfeld and Vin Diesel counting amongst this year’s record number of visitors, we can’t think of a better time to go.
